Emergency Dental Appointments in San Fernando, Trinidad

If you find yourself experiencing extreme pain or have an accident that requires urgent care, we are proud to offer emergency dental appointments.

It often feels like dental emergencies happen at the worst time. If your tooth suddenly develops low-grade pain, or you have a sporting accident at your gym or the field, don’t leave your smile to chance. Give our knowledgeable dental team a call to discuss your symptoms, and we can recommend whether you come into our Trinidad dental office right away for an emergency dental appointment or, if it can wait for a day or two, when it’s more convenient.

What to Do When You Have a Dental Emergency

Acting fast can improve your chances of a full recovery. If you have an accident, such as an auto or sports injury, a trip to the emergency room or calling 811 might be necessary. You can call our San Fernando, Trinidad dental office when neck, head, or back injuries have been ruled out.

Otherwise, please follow a few simple guidelines until you reach our dental office.

Knocked-out tooth

  • Collect the tooth, taking care not to handle the root (Do not touch the root. Hold crown of tooth only)
  • Clean the tooth gently under running water
  • Place the tooth back in the socket. If this is not possible, secure the tooth in saliva or a cup of warm water
  • Contact your dentist in San Fernando as soon as possible.

Broken tooth – A cracked or chipped tooth may or may not be painful, but it is always an emergency. Avoid chewing or biting together, and contact us right away.

Something stuck in the gums – Popcorn hulls and other objects can sometimes get stuck. Try flossing, brushing your teeth, and rinsing with warm water. If you can’t work out the object, give us a call.

Broken crowns or fillings – A damaged crown can open your tooth to decay, and it might feel sensitive. We should arrange an appointment as soon as possible.

What to Expect at Your Emergency Dentist Appointment

Our goal at an emergency dentist appointment is to stabilize your condition and help you feel comfortable. We may be able to complete your treatment in a single visit. In other cases, such as if a root canal or dental crown is needed, a follow-up visit may be necessary to complete your procedure and have you feeling like yourself again.
